Can you help?

This page is for people who are looking for ways to help the community in somehow... It is easy to find ways of donating money but for some charities the donation of time is far more valuable. Also in this consumer driven times we have become a throw away society. Before you head down to your local recycling centre, check out this page to see if there might be a local charity looking for donations.

If you are a local charity and wish to advertise the need for volunteers or items then please contact us and we will add you to the page.

When you have purchased your furniture we also offer a delivery service for a small fee this can be arranged.

1000 older people waiting for a friendship call

We know from the older people who have joined The Silver Line – who chose to be called Silver Liners – that just a few minutes of your time can make a big difference.

They’re all about the power of human contact and volunteers are vital to The Silver Line’s commitment to reduce loneliness and isolation, and improve the lives of older people.

The facts are startling:

  • 5 million people aged over-65 in the UK live alone – and over half (51%) of all over-75s live alone
  • Just over one million people over-65 in the UK say they are always, or often feel, lonely
  • About five million older people consider the TV as their main form of company

As a Silver Line volunteer you can bring invaluable skills and experiences, along with the capacity to help make a difference, while being their link to communities and older people across the UK.

They have hundreds of older people who need a Silver Line Friend today.

Could you spare a few minutes every week to be that person to share an experience, enjoy a joke, or just chat with them?
